Meet The Team

With over 30 years of experience, we’re a family-run team of passionate, professionally accredited horologists, offering a wide range of skills in both clock and watchmaking. We love what we do — and it shows in every piece we work on.

Tim Wheeler

Clockmaker

After completing a five-year apprenticeship, Tim Wheeler became a qualified member of the British Horological Institute in 1987. He went on to work as a clockmaker for several high-end jewellers before opening Wheelers in 1991, originally based in Bath Place, Worthing. In March 2016, the business relocated to the historic Royal Arcade, where the workshop was expanded and a new showroom was established, showcasing antique clocks alongside modern and vintage watches. Tim is also a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers and a freeman of the City of London.

Chris Wheeler

Watchmaker

In March 2014, Chris joined the family business as a BHI-registered apprentice clock and watchmaker. He was accepted onto the prestigious George Daniels Educational Trust funding programme, supporting his horological training. He qualified in 2017, earning awards for the best-serviced striking clock, the best-made recoil escapement, and the best overall result in his cohort. Alongside his exams, Chris also completed the BHI’s watchmaking courses, later choosing to specialise in watches. In 2022, he was awarded a further prize for producing the best balance staff during an advanced course. Chris is also a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers and a freeman of the City of London.

Ben Wheeler

Clockmaker

Ben joined the business in 2020 as an apprentice clockmaker. In 2024, he qualified as a member of the British Horological Institute, earning recognition with a prize for the best-made recoil escapement. Ben continues to develop his skills in traditional clockmaking as part of the Wheelers team.

Nicky Wheeler

Shop Manager

Nicky co-founded the business with her husband Tim in 1991, and brings over 30 years of experience in the industry. She oversees the day-to-day running of the shop and is the friendly face that keeps everything ticking smoothly. Nicky is also a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers and a freeman of the City of London.
